Katie Cashman

Candidate for City Council, Minneapolis, MN

Katie is proud to call Minneapolis her hometown, appreciating the city's natural and cultural assets. With the help of Run On Climate, Katie was elected to the Minneapolis City Council in 2023 and has served on many boards and commissions such as the Clean Energy Partnership.

She also chairs the Climate and Infrastructure Committee. Katie has been instrumental in advancing bold climate policies such as Carbon Fees for major industrial polluters and negotiating franchise agreements with their electric and gas utilities to ensure they are meeting the City’s climate goals. If reelected, Katie will focus on passing building performance standards and requirements for new buildings such as EV chargers and all-electric heating and appliances.

Climate and Environment

We can’t plan for the future without addressing climate change, pollution, and extreme weather in Minneapolis. People visit and even move to Ward 7 for our lakes and parks and we must prioritize well-maintained and resilient public spaces. My expertise and leadership on climate and environment has been critical to our progress toward healthy air, water and green spaces. This expertise will be even more important in the next four years as we work to fill the gaps in leadership left by the federal government.

A Well-Connected Transportation System

We need reliable and frequent transit that serves everyone from commuters to tourists. We need road designs with complete infrastructure that makes sure all travellers, whether driving, bussing, biking, walking or rolling can navigate our streets safely.
