Dionne Foster
Candidate for City Council, Seattle, WA
Dionne has a strong background fighting for urgent action at the local level to address climate change, advance climate justice, and center the voices of low income people and people of color in climate advocacy. She is running for Seattle City Council to continue advancing these initiatives.
Dionne has worked for two local climate justice non-profits: Got Green and Puget Sound Sage, and as a Policy Advisor for the City of Seattle, she supported the city’s transportation electrification and infrastructure development towards clean energy. She also helped successfully defeat the repeal of the revenue positive carbon pricing policy at the state level!
Dionne’s Vision
Climate Resilience
Ensure equitable energy access by partnering at the state level to maintain affordable energy prices, promote the equitable distribution of solar infrastructure, and hold utilities accountable for fair pricing and clean energy transitions.
Strengthen climate resilience by preparing our communities for extreme weather events, improving infrastructure to prevent flooding, and ensuring frontline communities have the resources they need to stay safe.
Promote sustainable transportation by reducing car emissions, improving public transit, expanding bike lanes, and making it easier for people to choose greener ways to get around.
Thriving Communities
Support Small Businesses: I fell in love with Seattle because of its small businesses—the locally owned coffee shops, neighborhood comic book stores, and independent art galleries that make each neighborhood unique. I will work to cut red tape, expand funding opportunities, and create policies that help small businesses thrive.
Expand Parks and Public Spaces: Access to quality parks and public spaces enhances our quality of life. I support expanding and maintaining our parks, ensuring clean and safe recreational areas, and investing in public amenities that bring our communities together.
Celebrate Arts & Culture: Seattle’s arts and cultural institutions are vital to our identity and economy. I will champion policies that provide direct support to artists, protect cultural spaces, and ensure Seattle remains a hub for creativity and innovation.
“I am excited to have the support of Run On Climate, as they work to elect leaders at the local level who are championing policies to fight climate change and advance environmental justice. As the Trump Administration rolls back environmental protections and clean energy policy at the federal level, we need to work harder than ever locally to protect the health of our communities and our climate. On Council, I will work to reduce emissions by investing in public transit, expanding bike lanes, and pursuing Transit-Oriented Development, and I look forward to joining other pro-climate action candidates to ensure residents in Seattle can choose greener ways to get around.”
