Meet our Board of Directors

  • Graham Turk

    Graham Turk is a researcher at the MIT Energy Initiative focusing on the distribution grid impacts of residential electrification. He previously worked at the Vermont utility Green Mountain Power (GMP) on the innovation team and as head of customer care. At GMP he helped design and administer innovative customer programs in areas such as electric vehicle charging, demand flexibility, and battery storage.

    Graham holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Princeton University, a master's degree in technology and policy from MIT, and was a Fulbright scholar at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.

  • Melissa Walton

    Melissa has most recently worked in corporate climate governance and accountability at As You Sow. Previously she has worked to educate on natural science and environmental issues with a particular focus on understanding coastal and marine ecosystems and human interactions. She has consulted for a variety of nonprofit organizations providing quantitative and qualitative research on a variety of sustainability issues to provide strategic direction for the organizations. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Emory University, a master’s in environmental management from Duke University, and an MBA in Sustainable Solutions from Presidio Graduate School.

    Melissa lives in Alameda, California with her family. She enjoys exploring the Bay Area and spends a good amount of time in her garden growing vegetables.

  • Dalia Hashad

    Dalia Hashad is an attorney and a campaign strategist, leading initiatives for transformational change on social justice issues from tech accountability to environmental justice and is passionate about building political and people power to advance ambitious and bold climate action. She served as the Director of Amnesty International’s USA Program, Campaign Director of Avaaz, and founded and ran an initiative to combat racial profiling at the ACLU. Dalia received her BA in Environmental Policy from UC Berkeley and her JD from New York University, School of Law.

  • Melissa Merkel-Dallaryan

    Melissa Merkel-Dallaryan has been working at the intersection of global health and business for nearly 20 years and is deeply passionate about joining the climate mitigation movement. As a public health professional whose career has been guided by improving health outcomes for marginalized populations, it feels only natural to shift her focus to the urgent work of decarbonization and materializing a future free of fossil fuels. Without achieving immediate climate policy changes, the most vulnerable amongst us will continue to experience exacerbated health threats. As a member of the Board of Directors at Run on Climate, Melissa looks forward to bringing her professional experience in fundraising and communications to bear for this essential cause. In her downtime, Melissa enjoys toiling in the dirt at her regenerative family farm in Jamaica, VT, where she is teaching her two-year-old daughter the joys of a day well spent in the fresh mountain air, connecting with and nurturing our most precious resources.

  • Jack Kutner

    Jack is passionate about all things environmental and focuses on sustainability-based businesses and non-profit organizations. He has owned, invested in, and served on the boards of numerous impact-oriented companies ranging from alternative energy, energy efficiency, organic foods, non-toxic cleaning products, and reusables. Jack currently consults for companies with a particular focus on start-up and early-stage businesses, and advises environmental organizations.

    An executive with 40 years of experience, he was Chairman and CEO of BigBelly, a pioneering green-tech firm in the smart waste industry, previously was President of First Data Investor Services Group until its sale to Providence National Bancorp, and held officer positions with American Express, and Merrill Lynch. Jack splits his time between Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire and Cambridge, Mass.

  • Leah Wawro

    Leah Wawro is Director of Global Threats at Independent Diplomat, where she manages the non-profit diplomatic advisory group's work on climate change advising the Republic of the Marshall Islands and acting as the Secretariat of the High Ambition Coalition.

    Previously, Wawro was the Head of Conflict & Insecurity at Transparency International Defence. In this role, she led Transparency International’s work on defence and security sector corruption in fragile and conflict states, including in Nigeria, Ukraine, and Tunisia, and to strengthen accountability and anti-corruption in defence establishments, including the British Army, NAKO and the UN. Wawro is also a founder and board member of the Independent Defence Anti-Corruption Committee of Ukraine (NAKO), which she co-founded in 2016.

    From 2014-15, Wawro was a Network Fellow at Harvard University’s Edmund J. Safra Center for Ethics, where she worked on research into institutional corruption in the defence sectors of states transitioning to democracy. She holds an MA in International Relations and Arabic from the University of St. Andrews.

  • Jeremy Schroeder

    Jeremy Schroeder is a social justice alchemist who has diverse experience leading organizing, policy and electoral campaigns. These experiences have included serving in elected office on Minneapolis's City Council as well as running Illinois's successful campaign to abolish the state death penalty.

    On the city council, Jeremy helped lead the city on environmental justice in the city's energy use, built environment, and food systems. Currently, Jeremy is the Public Power/ Local Government Program Director for Climate Cabinet where he works with local leaders to help them pass climate policies.

  • Marcie Gallagher

    Having studied in the Rubenstein School of Natural Resources at the University of Vermont, Marcie has worked as an environmental organizer and advocate over the last eight years.

    She is passionate about exploring the intersection between solid waste, toxic pollution, and climate change, and hopes to participate in shifting the burdens arising from these crises back onto the corporations that created them, instead of on our communities.

    She is also proud to be a year-long bike commuter and can be seen around town carrying her dog, Pepper, in a backpack on her bike.

  • Lis Best

    Lis Best has spent the past 15+ years at the intersection of sustainability, government affairs, and leadership development. Today, she is an executive coach for women in impact, founder and facilitator of the Girls Club Collective, and host of the Women Changing the World podcast. Based in Oakland, California, outside of work you can find her enjoying the beach, seeking out hot springs, or hiking in the redwoods.

    Prior to her entrepreneurial journey, Lis worked as director of social impact for the world's fastest-growing pre-IPO start-up, a management consultant for BSR, and a sustainability and government affairs manager at Qualcomm. She holds an executive coaching certification from Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute, an MA in global policy and strategy from UC San Diego, and a BA in Global Studies from UC Santa Barbara.
