Administrative and HR Coordinator
Position Overview: Run On Climate is a nonprofit committed to building the climate movement from the ground up by electing climate champions to local office and passing bold local-level climate policies in communities across the U.S. As a growing organization, we are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Administrative and HR Coordinator to manage the essential administrative and operational aspects of our organization. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, systems-building, and working with numbers, and who is comfortable navigating bureaucratic processes. The Administrative and HR Coordinator will handle tasks related to compliance, financial tracking, and other key operational functions that ensure the smooth running of the organization.
Compensation:
$23/hr.
Employment Type:
Part-time (15 hours/week) to start; opportunity to increase to full time in the coming months.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations:
Monitor and track organizational budgets and expenses.
Manage accounts payable and receivable in collaboration with the organization’s fiscal sponsor.
Prepare financial documentation for grant applications, funders, and internal reporting.
Develop and enforce financial controls to ensure accuracy and compliance, including:
Streamlining bookkeeping, invoicing, and payroll processes.
Maintaining accurate records of expenses and revenue.
Setting up approval workflows for reimbursements, payments, and purchases.
Drafting guidelines for budgeting, expense tracking, and financial oversight.
Administrative Support:
Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, including scheduling, email management, and document preparation.
Manage internal communications and maintain efficient collaboration across teams.
Payroll and Organization Compliance
Oversee payroll processes and insurance policies to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance with labor laws and regulations.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including timely filing of taxes and other required forms.
HR Administration
Maintain and update HR policies and employee handbooks, as needed.
Support hiring processes, as needed.
(If expanding to full time) Create and administer employee benefits, including health insurance and paid time off policies.
Operations and Systems:
Monitor and improve organizational workflows, tools, and systems.
Collaborate with team members to identify and implement new systems for operational improvement.
Desired Skills:
Proven experience in administrative or operations roles, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, Drive, Docs, etc.) and familiarity with financial management tools.
Comfortable working independently and handling complex processes with minimal oversight.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of compliance, payroll, and financial management is a plus.

Canvass Director (Summer 2025)
Lead a passionate team of canvassers to advance climate and social justice in Vermont! As the Canvass Director, train, and manage a team of 3-5 canvassers to engage with communities, build grassroots support, and drive impactful campaigns.
Compensation:
Pay based on experience, $22-$27/hr.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop canvassing plans and outreach strategies.
Supervise, motivate, and support a team of canvassers.
Track team performance and ensure campaign goals are met.
Door to door fundraising canvassing.
Cultivate meaningful connections with community members.
Desired Skills:
3-5 years of canvassing or campaign leadership experience.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Door to Door Canvasser (Summer 2025)
Join our team of dedicated canvassers to raise awareness and support for local-level climate action this summer in Vermont! As a canvasser, you will engage directly with community members to raise awareness, inspire action, and garner donations to support Run On Climate’s work advancing bold local climate solutions in communities across the country.
Compensation:
Pay based on experience, $17-22/hr.

Location: Burlington, Vermont (in-person)
Key Responsibilities:
Knock on doors, have meaningful conversations, and engage with Vermont residents about climate action.
Educate the public about our work.
Collect donations and/or contact information from those interested in supporting our work
Represent our mission and values with professionalism and enthusiasm in all interactions.
Work collaboratively with a team and report progress to your Canvass Director.
Desired Skills:
Passion for climate action and social justice.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Positive attitude and ability to engage respectfully with diverse audiences.
Comfort working outdoors and traveling within Vermont communities.
Previous canvassing, customer service, or fundraising experience is a plus but not required.
