Marek Broderick
Candidate for City Council, Burlington, VT
Marek has been a true climate champion on Burlington's City Council and is running for re-election. He helped pass the Building Emissions Reduction Ordinance (BERO), and adopted the Energy Benchmarking Ordinance as first step in that process to get large commercial buildings off of fossil fuels. Marek plans to continue this work to decarbonize large buildings if re-elected.
Prior to and during his time on City Council, Marek has been a student-worker organizer and community activist. Serving as co-chair of the local Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) chapter, he's facilitated discussions on climate justice and its intersections with the workers' movement.
