Vicki Veenker

City Councilor Seeking Reelection, Palo Alto, CA

Vicki has served on the Palo Alto City Council since 2022, was appointed unanimously as Mayor in 2026 and is now running for re-election to City Council. Vicki has helped lead some of the most progressive climate policies in the country, including a study on disconnecting from the gas grid. She’s also the Vice Chair of the Bay Area Air Quality District Board, where she helped champion first in the nation regulations requiring all-electric heating, grants for electric vehicles and chargers and litigation against oil companies violating air quality rules. If re-elected, Vicki will continue working toward building decarbonization, preventing and mitigating heat islands, and keeping emissions reduction goals on track.

“Climate action is a top priority for me because we need to act now to prevent catastrophic environmental damage and extreme weather. Reducing greenhouse gases also protects public health for each one of us—saving lives and lowering healthcare costs. And as a parent, intergenerational justice is top of mind, so that our children, who are least responsible, won’t suffer the worst consequences.”
