About Run on Climate (ROC)

Run On Climate works to accelerate cutting-edge climate policy at the local (town, city, and county) level. We support candidates, collaborate with elected leaders, and expand the influence of climate justice advocates to drive change in communities nationwide. 

Position Overview: Run On Climate is seeking a Recruiter to lead our talent acquisition efforts across our growing organization. This role will oversee full-cycle recruitment for staff, fellows, and intern positions, helping us attract mission-driven individuals who are passionate about climate justice and local policy change. The Recruiter will work closely with organizational leadership to build effective hiring systems, expand our candidate pipelines, and ensure a thoughtful, equitable, and efficient hiring process that supports ROC’s long-term growth.

Compensation: $20-$24

Employment Type: Part-Time

Hours: 10-15 hours per week

Location: Flexible/remote

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-Cycle Hiring: Lead recruitment processes from job posting through onboarding, including candidate sourcing, application review, screening, interviewing, reference checks, and offer letters.

  • Recruitment Coordination: Collaborate with organizational leadership to identify staffing needs and align hiring efforts with ROC’s programmatic and organizational goals.

  • Candidate Engagement: Ensure a positive and professional candidate experience through clear communication, timely follow-up, and thoughtful process management.

  • Equitable Hiring Practices: Help strengthen inclusive hiring systems and expand outreach.

  • Recruitment Systems Management: Maintain and improve hiring workflows and recruitment materials to support efficient and organized processes.

  • Seasonal Recruitment: Coordinate recruitment for ROC’s summer canvassing programs and leadership development internship and fellowship programs, including applicant review, onboarding preparation, maintaining recruitment records, and supporting setup across internal systems.

  • Data Tracking & Reporting: Track hiring and provide regular updates to leadership on recruitment progress.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, HR, nonprofit staffing, or related work

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Experience managing multiple hiring processes simultaneously

  • Ability to assess candidates for both skills and mission alignment

  • Experience building equitable and inclusive hiring practices

  • Experience recruiting interns, fellows, or early-career talent preferred

  • Background in nonprofit, political, advocacy, or climate-related work preferred

  • Commitment to equity, climate justice, and grassroots organizing
