Juan Muñoz-Guevara
Reelection for City Council, Lynwood, CA
Juan is running for reelection to the Lynwood City Council with a proven track record of fighting for climate justice, both on the Council and in his community. On Council, he spearheaded Lynwood becoming the first city in Southeast LA County to join the Clean Power Alliance since it began service, and he now serves on CPA's Board and Legislative Committee. A Sierra Club member, Juan was named a 2026 Smith-Weiss Environmental Champion of the Year by the LA League of Conservation Voters. If reelected, Juan will fight to codify the city's fossil fuel divestment into permanent policy, establish a roadmap for reducing community-wide emissions, and expand urban tree canopy in frontline neighborhoods.
"I grew up on Lynwood's Westside with the constant hum of the 105 freeway half a mile from my house, and playgrounds with no shade and hardly a tree in sight. In college, I realized none of that was an accident. It was the product of land use decisions made generations ago that put freeways, warehouses, and heavy industry right next to working-class homes in a way other communities never had to accept. I'm fighting for climate action so the kids growing up in Lynwood today inherit a city that's greener, healthier, and more climate resilient than the one I grew up in."
