IdaRose Sylvester
City Council Candidate, Mountainview, CA
IdaRose has worked tirelessly to make Mountain View a leader in sustainability and improve quality of life for its residents. She served on the City’s Environmental Sustainability Task Force, leading their community outreach team and writing several now-enacted policy recommendations, including the creation of an Office of Sustainability, with a Chief Sustainability Officer for the City.
IdaRose currently serves on the City’s Parks and Recreation Commission and multiple nonprofit boards including Carbon Free Mountain View. Through her work building coalitions, she helped pass climate-safe building codes across the Bay Area. If elected, IdaRose will work to implement balcony solar for all apartment units, electrify more of the City’s shuttle services, and much more!
“The climate crisis is an existential crisis facing our communities, and we have a moral imperative as leaders to act. Cities have enormous power to decarbonize transportation and buildings, and despite hearing ‘it's out of our hands at this level,’ it is actually where we can make major change. We owe it to people today, and the people who will come after us, to create a climate-safe city..”
