Ed Hermes

Candidate for City Council, Phoenix, AZ

Ed is a dedicated climate activist, School Board member, father, husband, lawyer, and first-time candidate running to serve District 4 on Phoenix City Council. At a young age, Ed organized a boycott against a price raise on school lunches. On the School Board, he collaborated with community organizations to electrify the school bus fleet and install solar panels in every district school. As Chair of the Vision Zero Street Safety Commission, he championed protected bike lanes and other pedestrian-friendly infrastructure. An advocate for improving public transit, opposing data center construction, better stormwater management and increasing tree canopy, Ed plans to fight for the citizens of Phoenix to create a safer and more sustainable city in one of the most climate-affected regions in the country.

“We must act now to protect our residents from extreme heat and worsening air quality and hold corporate polluters like data centers accountable to ensure they do not pass costs onto Phoenicians and overuse water.”
