Chelsea Byers
Reelection for City Council, West Hollywood, CA
Chelsea has been a dedicated climate activist since before being elected and has since used her positions as a West Hollywood City Councilor and Mayor to advance transformative change. She worked to establish building performance standards, which would set the city's largest buildings on a pathway to greater energy efficiency, and she led the implementation of the City’s plant-based default policy, making West Hollywood the first city in the country to shift to a majority plant-based food sourcing strategy. Chelsea's a member of the Climate Mayors network and our Local Climate Policy Network (LCPN), providing strategic peer support to other elected officials around the country. If reelected, Chelsea plans to improve and expand the city's protected bike lane network and public transportation systems, and create more transit-oriented housing opportunities.

Growing up with deep climate anxiety, I have understood from an early age that creating a more sustainable city will require action on every front: changing how we get around, strengthening our resilience to extreme heat, and creating greener, more joyful public spaces for families. For me, climate action is about building a city that is more livable for everyone who calls West Hollywood home today, and for our children and their children who will inherit it."
