Dr. Flojaune Cofer
Candidate for Mayor, Sacramento, CA
Dr. Flojaune Cofer is a nationally trusted public health professional, a seasoned California policy expert, and a consistent local advocate pushing for a Sacramento that protects our health, our environment, and serves everyone. As the recent Senior Director of Policy for Public Health Advocates, she directed the team leading health equity initiatives statewide, plus prevention, response, and recovery from public health emergencies. She is also deeply committed to civic engagement having served in various capacities on local boards, committees and commissions, including serving four terms as chair of the city of Sacramento Measure U Advisory Committee. As a member of the Sacramento Mayor’s Climate Change Commission, Dr. Cofer worked with the City and community leaders to develop a policy framework to green Sacramento and make it more resilient against the impacts of climate change. As a member of the City’s Active Transportation Commission, she worked to improve Sacramento’s public transit and sustainable transportation infrastructure. Dr. Cofer was raised by two public school teachers. She lives in South Sac.

Fully implement our urban tree plan to plant, protect, and maintain trees to enhance our urban canopy and improve air quality.
Home and Business Resilience
Collaborate with SMUD and the air district to make homes and businesses more resilient through weatherization, water and energy efficiency improvements, and electrification.
Electric Vehicle Infrastructure
Work with SMUD and the air district to implement a comprehensive electric vehicle charging network, supporting the transition to clean transportation.
Production AND Storage Infrastructure
Work with SMUD and strategic partners to ensure a robust Solar and renewables platform for the city in conjunction with supporting the implementation of state-of-the-art energy storage and smart grid technologies and setting a course for Sacramento to be a leader in resilient green energy infrastructure.
Green Jobs Incubator
Partner with local unions, employers, and workforce development groups to create a Green Jobs Incubator, ensuring our residents are ready to seize new job opportunities in the green economy.
Safe Streets Initiative
Explore a funding measure to make all our streets safe for pedestrians and cyclists, enhancing overall traffic safety and encouraging sustainable transportation.
Expanded Free Transit
Collaborate with Sacramento Regional Transit to expand free transit beyond the current K-12 program, making public transportation accessible to more residents.
Standing Climate Committee
Transform the mayor’s Climate Change Committee into a standing city committee, ensuring ongoing focus and accountability on climate issues.
