  • Ban carbon-based fuels from all new buildings

  • Close the McNeil Generating Station as soon as responsibly possible

  • Phase out gas-powered landscaping equipment

  • Municipalize trash collection to reduce emissions, improve air quality, reduce noise pollution, and save money on road maintenance

  • Remove the F-35 basing at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport

  • Support Burlington’s Amtrak station and rail travel throughout Vermont, advocating for increased frequency and connectivity, including connections to Montreal and Boston

  • Reduce air traffic at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport that is not essential for human and planetary well-being.

A Greener City for a Greener Future

  • Support a city-wide tree planting campaign to reduce air pollution and mitigate the urban heat island effect, with an emphasis on downtown and the Old North End

  • Launch a campaign to encourage property owners to rewild their lawns and plant pollinator-friendly native species and/or fruits and vegetables to improve air quality, protect water quality, reduce flooding, and build food resilience and sovereignty.

  • Mandating climate and environmental education in Burlington City Schools, including a required class at Burlington High School on the climate emergency

"The climate emergency is an existential crisis to all life on Earth. It is our responsibility to take action now and protect all that we love."
